Now in its tenth year, Welsh Crucible is a highly competitive and award-winning personal, professional and leadership development programme for the future research leaders of Wales.  Offered to just thirty people a year, the 2024 cohort includes two talented researchers from CASCADE – Verity Bennett and Helen Hodges.  They join an illustrious alumnus, including Sally Holland (2011), Hannah Bayfield and Nina Maxwell (2021), and Phil Smith (2023).

The Crucible supports research-inspired innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration in Wales with the programme designed to enable researchers to explore how they can tackle the current research challenges facing Wales.  This is done through inspiring guest speakers, seminars and informal discussions.   CASCADE’s continued success in securing places on the programme is a testament to the exceptional talent and innovative potential which is nurtured within the Centre and bodes well for the next 10 years!
