CASCADE is proud to be part of a major new Horizon Europe project Serena, which brings together researchers from 12 countries to improve access to care for children affected by abuse and neglect.

Led by Professor Catherine Quantin and coordinated by INSERM (France), the €6.3 million project will assess how services across Europe respond to child maltreatment, identifying gaps and good practice to inform future policy.

Cardiff University’s Dr Yulia Shenderovich is leading one of the work packages, exploring approaches to supporting children after abuse has been identified. The work includes a cross-European evidence and policy review and qualitative interviews with survivors and professionals in Wales, Denmark and France.  CASCADE’s Professor Sally Holland is part of the research team

“All children and young people have the right to services following abuse, neglect or exploitation under Article 39 of the UNCRC. This study will help us understand how these are organised and experienced across a number of European nations. We hope we will be able to identify barriers and learn from best practice, to support children in the future.” – Professor Sally Holland
