Cardiff University’s School of Social Sciences and School of Psychology, supported by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Doctoral Training Partnership for Wales (Wales DTP), invites applications for PhD study with the possibility of being awarded a fully-funded ESRC DTP Studentship, to start in October 2022 in the area of social work and social care.

There are two types of PhD studentships available: General studentships in which candidates are invited to submit their own proposals and Collaborative studentships, which involve a collaborating organisation external to the University for specific research projects. Collaborative projects available for entry in October 2022 and relevant to social care include:
- “Violence against Migrant Women and Girls with No Recourse to Public Funds in Wales”
- “Inter-agency collaboration to support children with mental health needs”
- “Exploring the uptake and provision of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) among ‘vulnerable’ groups: a mixed-methods study”
- Emotion Recognition in Looked After Children in Wales: An Investigation and Intervention Study
