Two CASCADE researchers have recently been featured in the International Journal of Educational and Life Transitions.
Leaving a Pupil Referral Unit in Wales: Care Experienced Young People and their Post-16 Transitions is a project led by Dr Phil Smith. Care experienced young people are more likely to leave compulsory schooling, with fewer qualifications, than their non-care experienced peers. Dr Smith’s article explores the findings of this study and explores the reflections of young care experienced people on their educational journeys.
”More of a Kind of Patchy Transition into University as Opposed to the Kind of Smooth Story that People Expect.” Transitions to Higher Education for Care-Experienced Students, led by Dr Hannah Bayfield, explores why care-experienced young are significantly less likely to transition into higher education. Based on the experiences of young people in Wales, this article looks at ways to improve transitional support and better sign-post existing support.
